Gillian Lemire-Elmore

Hi! My name is Gillian and I teach Piano and Music Theory at Resonate Music School & Studio.

I’ve played piano all my life, and started with Suzuki piano lessons when I was three years old. I began to really love piano around age twelve when I started learning ragtime and boogie in addition to my classical repertoire. I received my grade 10 RCM piano at seventeen and then worked towards my ARCT Performer’s diploma. After that, I went to the University of Victoria for a Bachelor of Music.

My goal as a teacher is to engage each individual and find the most fitting method of instruction. I work to discover what music the student likes most and will want to learn. I teach a great deal from classical repertoire and technique, but also incorporate pop, improvisation, and anything the student brings in they want to learn.

I’ve been teaching piano since 2008, and during this time, have accompanied youth, school and community choirs, played for musical productions, and accompanied many students for exams and studio recitals. I have also performed solo piano for several occasions in my hometown of Victoria BC.

I am excited to be teaching at Resonate, and look forward to helping each new student become the musician I know they can be.
