Afarin Nazarijou, a talented musician, embarked on a remarkable musical journey. She composes, improvises, and performs in Classical music, contemporary, and Persian classical music.
Starting with the piano at the age of 5, she later discovered the Qanun, a traditional Persian string instrument. Graduating with honors from the Tehran Music School, she studied Iranian classical music and earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Performing Iranian classical Music from the University of Tehran.
Driven by a desire for multicultural musical experiences, Afarin pursued a Master’s degree in Contemporary Improvisation at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. Additionally, she is currently studying for her Master’s in Music in the University of Alberta. She has performed internationally, received awards, and taught music, specializing in the Qanun, Persian percussion instruments, and Piano.
