Hi, I’m Etelka and I teach violin, viola, and cello.  I grew up in an artistic family in Hamilton, ON and was surrounded by music from the start.  Classically trained from the age of 4 on the violin (and started piano a few years later), I began exploring other styles as a teen, finding myself hooked on Cape Breton fiddling. During my undergrad studies at Wilfrid Laurier University, I took up the viola as well.

In 2006, I moved to the UK, where I found myself busy teaching in schools and privately at home, alongside performing all kinds of styles from Classical to Bollywood with string groups on the violin or viola. During this time I also acquired two Master’s of Music degrees, the first in composition and the second in Middle Eastern violin performance.

I started teaching about 13 years ago and fell in love with the excitement of watching students grow and developing their skills and love for music! I continue to take Colourstrings and Kodaly teacher training, and I am excited to be one of the few Canadians using Colourstrings with young beginners.  I enjoy working with anyone from age 4 to adult.  Looking forward to working with you at Resonate!
