Hey, my name is Karina Fariña and I’ve been teaching piano for over 15 years and performing in bands and as a soloist for approximately 10 years.
I started taking piano lessons at the age of 8 until I completed my grade 10 Royal Conservatory of Music practical exam. I continued my musical education at Grant MacEwan, where I received my Bachelor of Music Degree in Jazz and Contemporary Popular Music. At Grant MacEwan, I majored in composition and learned to compose and arrange music in a variety of styles and instrumentation. Currently I am at the University of Alberta completing my degree in secondary education to become a band teacher.
Teaching, for me, is about inspiring students and passing on what I’ve learned. I believe that music is for everyone, and I look forward to sharing what I’ve learned with my new students!
