Lessons

Membership or drop-in

Lessons at Resonate run two ways. A weekly membership holds a reserved time with your teacher, week after week. A drop-in is one lesson, booked when you want one.

Both happen in the same rooms with the same teachers. A membership builds a weekly routine. A drop-in asks nothing of your calendar beyond the hour you book.

How membership works

A membership is a standing weekly time with your teacher: same day, same time, held for you. Lessons build on each other because you are working with one teacher who knows where you left off.

When something comes up, a week’s notice turns the missed lesson into a make-up lesson to book later. Every three months of membership also includes an hour in the recording studio.

Weekly 30 minute lessons are $145 a month, and 60 minute lessons are $285. Monday lessons run $135 and $265, priced for the statutory holidays that land on Mondays.

How drop-ins work

A drop-in is a single lesson at a single price: $40 for 30 minutes, $75 for 60. Book up to 30 days ahead and pay when you book.

Drop-ins run with the same teachers who teach the weekly memberships, scheduled into the open time in their weeks. Tell the front desk the instrument and the times that could work, and they will find the opening.

A drop-in ends when the lesson does. Nothing renews, and nothing follows unless you book another.

Where each one fits

A drop-in fits

  • A first lesson on an instrument you have been circling
  • Coming back after years away, with one lesson before any bigger decision
  • An audition, a session, or a song that could use an outside ear
  • Shift work, or any week that will not hold a standing time

A membership fits

  • A practice routine with a weekly lesson to build around
  • Kids finding a school-year rhythm
  • One teacher over months, so each lesson picks up where the last one ended
  • Working toward something longer: an exam, a recital, a first recording

Neither choice is permanent. A drop-in can become a weekly time when one opens that works for you, and when a membership ends, drop-ins are still there whenever you want a lesson. If you are not sure, tell the front desk where things are at and they will say plainly which one they would pick.

Common questions

Can I start with a drop-in and move to a weekly membership?

Yes. When a weekly time opens that works for you, the front desk sets it up, and you keep the same teacher where schedules allow.

Do drop-ins include make-up lessons or the studio hour?

Those come with weekly membership. A drop-in is one lesson at one price, with nothing folded in and nothing renewing.

How do I book a drop-in?

Call the front desk at 780 457 0090, email hello@resonatemusic.ca, or use the start here form. Drop-ins can be booked up to 30 days ahead and are paid when booked.

What happens if I miss a drop-in?

A drop-in holds its time, so a missed or cancelled drop-in is not refunded or rescheduled. If your weeks need that kind of flexibility, membership carries it.

Is a weekly membership a contract?

Membership runs month to month. Ending it takes notice to the front desk, and tuition runs for 30 days from the date you give it. The full terms are on the school policies page.

Are lesson rates subject to GST?

No. Music lessons are GST-exempt, so the rate you see is the rate you pay.
